Here we have compiled a definitive catalogue of Montego model variants throughout the years.

1984

The Montego range was launched in April 1984, comprising of the following models:

1985

The second year of production saw the introduction of a turbocharged version of the O series MG. Vanden Plas became available with fuel injection.

1986

2.0 HLS was replaced by 1.6 & 2.0 Mayfair, all carburettor-fuelled. Vanden Plas only produced fuel-injected.

1987

Mayfair also became fuel-injected 2.0 only. The Si was introduced and MG EFi was renamed MG 2.0i. Two-tone paintwork was also introduced early in the year.

1988

The estate-only special edition Countryman was introduced in low numbers and 1.3 engine was no longer used. At the MKII 'facelift', moving on to the all-grey dashboard, the Austin name was dropped and cars were badged as neither Austin or Rover. SL replaced the HL, GSi replaced the Mayfair as Executive did the Vanden Plas and GTi did the Si.

1989

The Countryman special edition was no longer produced but another special edition - the Advantage - was introduced. Base model was given the name Clubman.

1990

LX replaced L and SLX replaced SL. The Countryman estate model was re-introduced with the new interior and wider range of exterior colours.

1991

Special edition Advantage model was no longer produced.

1992

GTi model was no longer produced.

1993

GSi (Executive) and MG Turbo models were no longer produced.

1994-1995

SLX was no longer produced. For the final year of production, the following models were available:
