MONTEGO
MG 2.0EFi & Turbo

THE ONLY THING YOU WON'T HAVE IS AN EXCUSE FOR BEING LATE

You'll have all you ever wanted in the way of luxury. Equipped with an advanced new 3-band electronic tune stereo radio/stereo cassette player, the MG Montego 2.0 EFi takes the rush hour in its stride. A sliding/tilting screened glass sunroof is now standard equipment. Central door locking secures doors and boot in a second; the push of a button operates the electric front windows; and electrically operated and heater door mirrors are part of the comprehensive driving equipment.

The MG's sports style seats have tasteful Marle Deco and Plain velour facings and are trimmed with red piping. There is a chunky 3-spoke leather rimmed steering wheel, and the unique MG instrumentation features a tachometer, digital clock and panel lamp rheostat.

Every inch a dynamic and extrovert character, the MG EFi sports a body colour grille, reflective tail panel, and an MG red insert traced along bumpers and bodyside mouldings. A deeper front spoiler and tail spoiler enhance the dynamics.

Driven through a close-ration five-speed gearbox, the fuel-injected 2 litre O-Series engine will turn in a very prompt 8.9 second 0-60 time, a class beating 7.3 second sprint from 30-50 in fourth; and a top speed of 116 mph.

You'll be glad to know that the supercar has not been consigned to myth and legend. On the contrary, the MG Montego Turbo has brought a fresh excitement to one of the greatest motoring legends of all, being the fastest production MG ever build.

To optimise handling and roadholding, the Turbo has up-rated suspension, with a rear anti-roll bar. Alloy wheels are fitted - painted white on the MG's flagship, the dramatically styled all-white Turbo - whilst 190/65 tyres contribute to the tenacious road grip. Power-assisted steering gives precise and responsive control, and the Turbo is shaped for a purpose, with a deep section front air dam and wide body coloured tail spoiler.

Turbo-charging has sent the power of the 2.0 O-Series engine soaring up to 152PS (DIN), developing an awe-inspiring 169 lb. ft. maximum torque at 3500 rpm. The turbo-charger itself is a highly effective one, using an intercooler to reduce the temperature of the air coming from the compressor and give an even bigger boost to combustion efficiency. Turbo power comes in smoothly and progressively, from around only 1000 rpm, and is near its peak at under 2000 rpm, giving untemperamental flexibility even in top gear at low speeds.

The full power potential is phenomenal, giving a 0-60 time of 7.3 seconds, a top speed of 126 mph where permissible; and a truly exhilarating driving experience.

In luxury too there's been no holding back, with equipment which includes a slide and tilt screened glass sunroof, a top quality in-car audio system, and electric front and rear windows. The interior is beautifully appointed, with the sports-style seats - lavishly faced in Sculptured velvet and Plain velour and complemented by velved door casings - creating an atmosphere of discreet sportiness. As benefits a driving machine for the faster rising executive.
