ONE OF YOUR EASIER EXECUTIVE DECISIONS
Executive transport with a highly distinctive style, the Montego 1.6HL and 2.0HL immediately command attention. Their sleek lines are now accentuated by a body colour grille and door handles, whilst the elegant coachline and bronze-tinted glass contribute to the prestigious appearance. Central door locking is among the new refinements, together with a screened glass sunroof on the saloons. Two-tone paint finish in 6 colour combinations is also available on saloons only.
Sumptuous seats trimmed with Plain and Chalkstripe velvet facings and cloth seat backs and borders, together with the luxury of a cut pile carpet, help to create the special atmosphere of the Montego HL models. A stylish, moulded door trim, with integral door bins and armrests, is among their distinctive features, whilst the most fastidious passengers will be happy to take a back seat, with a fold down centre armrest providing armchair luxury in the rear. And when executive decisions need to be made on the move, the 60/40 split rear seat folds down to give a choice of two working surfaces - or a useful extension to the generous bootspace.
Among the HL model's most impressive luxuries is the 3-band stereo radio cassette player. The autostore function helps to optimise radio reception on longer journeys, whilst auto reverse automatically plays the other side of your cassettes. Electrically operated and heated door mirrors are part of the comprehensive HL specification, which also includes a tachometer, panel lamp rheostat, and programmed wash/wipe with variable delay intermittent wipe. For both models, options include power-assisted steering and automatic transmission.
The Montego 1.6HL and 2.0HL each offer a compelling blend of power, refinement and economy. the 86PS (DIN) S-Series engine can take the Montego 1.6HL saloon from 0-60 in just over 10.9 seconds, yet returns a steady 56 mph fuel consumption of over 53 mpg. The Montego 2.0HL is fitted with ventilated front disc brakes to complement its high performance potential, which can carry the saloon to 60 mph in only 9.8 seconds, and on to a top speed of 108 mph. Yet this eager driving machine is quite astonishingly frugal, with over 50 mpg at a steady 56 mph. Which could make choosing your Montego HL model even easier than you might have thought.
