MAESTRO 1.3L
MAESTRO 1.6L

Spacious versatility.

These two exciting cars - virtually identical except for engine size - lead the Maestro concept into the luxury league. They also introduce to the Maestro range a highly effective styling innovation; distinctive colour-matched integrated bumpers. As rugged as they are attractive, these are designed and built to shrug off careless-parker nudges of upto 2 1/2 mph.

Like all Maestros, the "L" models feature 'white lamp technology.' Both front direction indicator lamps, which emit the usual vivid amber flashing signals, have clear lenses and are cleverly designed to look silver-white when not in use. They thus extend the gleaming line set by the wide-lens homofocal halogen headlamps, creating a wrap-round styling themewhich is taken up by deep-scolloped door panels and integrated rear lamp clusters.

Open the door of a Maestro 1.3L or 1.6L and you enter a world of spacious versatility. No other medium-size hatchback offers so much legroom, headroom and shoulder-room, both front and rear. And few cars of any size can match the Maestro's all round visibility, a product of those big, deep windows and massive flush-glazed front and rear screens.

Like its smaller brother (the ubiquitous Metro), the Maestro 'L' has an asymmetrically split folding rear seat, giving you a journey-by-journey choice of four passenger/luggage variations. The fully reclining front seats are fitted with head restraints and, in company with the carpets, door trim, steering wheel, facia - even the seat belts - conform to an overall colour scheme.

Luxury items, abound. In addition to the equipment described on the preceeding page, Maestro 'L' models have such refinements as a lidded glovebox, cigar lighter, armrests, detatchable rear parcels shelf (it folds down and latches when you fold down the rear seat) and an impressive central console, complete with pushbutton radio. A retractable arial is built into the off-side windscreen pillar.

Choose the super-economy Maestro 1.3L or the lustier engined 1.6L. Either way, you'll enjoy the fuel-saving benefits of computer-designed aerodynamics, low rolling resistance tyres and a sophisticated engine management system based on microprocessor technology. Plus the economic benefits of 12,000 mile servicing and a 6-year Supershield corrosion warranty.
