I was changing the oil in my 1990 1.3 Maestro, and went to Halfords as usual for a filter. The Halfords ref is HOF209. Although it is still in their list and on the display, my branch (Crewe) had no stock. When the assistant checked with their central supplier he was told that this filter is now obsolete, and they had no more stock. I tried a few other motor spares outlets, but it's not looking promising. Obviously there are still odd numbers in stock, but it is really bad news if this filter is no longer supplied. Does anyone know whether another maker's equivalent is still available?
The filter for the 1.6 'O' series (=HOF200) is apparently still freely available, but I had some of those!
I find it hard to believe that a fairly common car less than 20 years old is now regarded as obsolete. Perhaps I should have bought a Rolls Royce?
