Default Lock sets

Hi,

anyone know if the door and ignition lock sets from 80s mk 1 Maestros and Metros are the same.

I'm posting this question for a fellow Maestro owner in my area who had his Diesel Clubman attempted stolen recently.

Cheers

Craig

I would say Montego's and Maestro's are the same might even be Metro's as well, the only difference I've come across is the electrical block connector coming out of the steering lock and into the loom changed about 1989. Having had the same problem I'd try and get a complete steering column from a scrappies(or ask around here somebody is always breaking a car) together with the key. If the original lock has been forced the outer column is nearly always damaged and it's much easier to change the complete column than fuss around fitting a new lock, if you are really lucky you might pick up the doors locks at the same time.
