  • Abandoned Maestro Turbo??

Couldn't see anyone having posted this before but has anyone seen the February issue of Practical Classics?

In the Rust in Peace section (page 62) there is a green MG Maestro turbo which doesn't look in that bad condition especially if it's abandoned. It's posted by Chris Williams from Royston in Cambridgeshire.

His other find was a 1950s Triumph Renown on an ex-USAF airbase on the Essex/Herts border so don't know if the Maestro is in that area as well.

It would have been better if Chris Williams had given some indication of where it was, so that if anyone was really interested in saving it (there's got to be someone somewhere hasn't there?? ) it could be checked out. I commented on the PC FB page, but no-one responded

I agree with you Pete. It may be that he has said where it is its just that the mag didn't print it??

They obviously know where his other find was so I would suggest he's told them where both were??

I'm sure it would be better if anyone was interested to contact the magazine. If the location was published I am sure the car would mysteriously disappear!!

Through a contact I have at PC mag, I've just found out that it is on an ex-USAF air base on the Essex/Herts borders. Is there anyone on here, in that location, who could possibly go and check it out?
I have also got contact details of the guy who sent the picture in, so if all else fails I might be able to get more specific details from him directly.

North Weald? Matching Green? Shouldn't be Sawbridgeworth or Hunsdon as they were RAF not USAF...
I'm off to Essex on Thursday and could find an hour.

It would be good if you could. Maybe try Saffron Walden. There was (is?) an ex-usaf base there.
