Default Digital clock bulb

Hi,

I wonder if someone happens to know if the bulb behind the digital clock on the Mk2 Maestro fascia is easily obtainable? My bulb is out so I'd like to make it go green again. It seems to be a push and turn to release but I can't quite make out whether the bulb is supposed to seperate from the white holder. I imagine it does but not sure. This must be a common one but then I'm just a novice.

regards,

Martyn

Yes it can pull out I'm sure. Replacement bulb is a 5mm wedge/capless 12V 1.2W clear item from motor factors or Halfords. Push the new bulb into the holder and job done.

Easily available from motorfactors/Halfrauds. Take the blown bulb with you, if in doubt. Hardest bit is getting the bulb out in the first instance: I found I had to remove the dash-surround (the clock comes out with it). Removing the surround is no problem, but getting it back in again is another matter

the bulb is permanently fitted to the holder and the two dont separate. I got a new one from a motor factors, they had it in stock. I also had to remove the whole plastic facia to get at the clock

No, that bulb as has been said certianly does not come out of the white plastic holder! Easiest thing to do, as I did, was to rob a bulb and holder from the back of the instrument pack (warning lights type) of a scrap car. The holder will fit into the clock, and the bulb will then be removable from the holder in the future! While your at it you can stock up on loads of bulbs!

...that's what must have happened to mine then! I've done so much electrical work on the car that it is hard to keep up...

Default clock bulb now lights up

Just sorted my clock bulb. Thanks for the replies. I bought a 1.2volt bulb in a black holder from Halfords rather like the white one and it fitted quite nicely and more to the point lights up! Now I just need to sort my interior light that seems to blow its fuse regularly for some reason.

Hurrah!

1.2 Volt? Don't you mean 12 Volt?

If the interior lamp keeps blowing its fuse check that the interior light is inserted the right way up. Mine when inserted upside down shorts out on the roof/aerial and caused a nice burning smell and pretty sparks

Hmm that's an iteresting thought- does your car have one central interior light between the visors or two either side?

It has the one in teh middle between the visors. On the van the problem is much worse than the car as there is a well earthed aerial located right above the lamp.
