  • Rally 6R4 Montego & 'Group S' V6 4v Maestros -anyone know anything about 'em?

    In this thread:
    http://www.maestro.org.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=15866
    there are posts made on:
    14th October 2011, 21:02

that give mention of bespoke rally Montegos & Maestros (possibly powered by V6 or 4 cyl Turbo engines):

Does anyone know anything more about these fabled creatures that are fading into legend?

I know the only "montego 6r4" made was owned by Chris "Levi-501".

Although I am not sure he still has it.

I got my info from an ex rover employee and CCC circa 1986. The Gillanders montego was a strange one had 6R4 suspention but was FWD with if remember right a 2.0 M series 16v engine.
I'd love to see you get to the bottom of this as as the saying goes no smoke without fire!

the one Chris Miller had is definitely scrapped, about 1 to 2 years back. I suspect Chris's car was the Roger Binyon one.
Have you read all the articles on Al's photobucket account that he pointed you to on another thread? He says all the magazine articles about the rally Montys are on there...
