Filler Cap Flap Hinge Repair

Just a little pointer helper to fellow bodgit and scarpa on a low budget or no budget for repairs or spares
My flap has been flapping for 4 years with one broken off hinge
Yesterday she finally snapped and broke free!

Not one to shy away from fixing attempts [also didnt want to lower the neighborhood even more with the goddess having an exposed red filler cap an no flap] i fixed it with:
T Mobile SIM plastic card surround
scissors [cut little rectangle strips]
swiss army knife spike
super glue [score both flap and cut plastic card to key in better]
Bend the plastic cut pieces over onto themselves and grip with pliers to get a nice 90 sharp edge [score hole with swiss army knife centre spike] to form an L shape all one piece-line up holes for hinge rod.....
glue-BINGO!

PS ive lost the spring for the flap!
hmmm might have some suitable unsprung sprightly springs somewhere.....or make or try a clothes peg spring!!

Send a message via MSN to G51 NAV

You would never have managed it without that all-important mug of tea
Nice one.

I don't suppose you could put that in the form of drawings? and post it?
It would be so much easier to understand and would help no end.

Cheers

Confused.com
When I said to post it, I meant post it on line in the FAQ section.

Sorry for the confusion

Cheers
