Can someone do similar with the Montego mag articles?
Especially welcome would be the Fast Car feature of the modded yellow Monty with the deep star? bodykit (I've lost my original mag).

            Al this is excellent...

Perhaps if other people have scans of other articles (like the very favourable Motor article from March 85 (ish?)) these could be added to this thread, and maybe Admin could make the whole thread a sticky somewhere?

There's a chap on the Auto****e forums who had uploaded a lot of old roadtests to flickr. A quick look through his account shows these, although I may have missed a couple.

MG Maestro 1600 road test, Motor magazine, 16th July 1983

MG Maestro 1600 road test, Autocar magazine, 6th August 1983

Austin Maestro 1.3L vs rivals, CAR magazine, September 1983

Austin Montego 1.6HL vs rivals, What Car magazine, July 1984

MG Montego EFi road test, Autocar magazine, 4th August 1984

Austin Maestro 1.6HLS vs rivals, What Car magazine, November 1984

MG Maestro EFi vs rivals, What Car magazine, May 1985

MG Montego Turbo vs rivals, What Car magazine, September 1985

Austin Montego 2.0HL road test, Autocar magazine, 16th October 1985

Austin Maestro 1.6HLS vs rivals, What Car magazine, January 1986

Austin Montego Vanden Plas EFi road test, Autocar magazine, 8th January 1986

Austin Montego 1.6L road test, Autocar magazine, 24th June 1987

You need a flickr account to see them full-size though - but if you can, they're perfectly legible - something like 2000 pixels wide IIRC. Those of you with good eyesight may even be able to read them as they are.

Interesting in the MG 1600 'motor' test they thought a really hot one was imminent! Reading between the lines it also sound like they thought a 2dr may appear.
The EFi did appear in 4dr but that was an answer to the much critisized at the time 1600 not a model that was in the pipeline from launch

I would have added them to the photo album within the site but my limit has been reached. :-(

                    Jonathan,

Could there be a home for this sort of stuff on the main site?

Very possibly, Sam. It has crossed my mind before.

I've got stacks and stacks of road tests here.

On a linked subject, if you want higher-res scans of the publicity-slides I recently uploaded (thought perhaps you might want them for the archive), just PM me.
