Bit of a shame that Jeff.

Not for me though even if they were for sale.

I might go for one of these to restore and my freind andy will take on the other one. I would have a two trips down the road in my truck for to save these. Try and find out how much and were abouts are they are so I can get a rogh idea of what I can pay to fule cost's etc this would mean I have one of every MG'm turbo.

Seems a shame, I wonder how far the tin worm have got into both of them. Usually white models can suffer more with rust breaking out in the strangest places.

I don't mind a weldathon I am used to it with mini's and atleast you can bolt a front end straight of and on a montego. My freind andy would weld until dooms day to save a Montego Turbo as he is as daft as me about metro's maestro's and montego's.

The black one on my profile pic was my black 153 bhp and 170lb ft of torque. Unfotunatly it took a bad shunt to the rear wich you will see in my Photo album. I still have a green one wich now has the black ones engine ronals etc there is a photo of this in standard form too in my album. This is also my first ever turbo car I owned I have had it twice This was sold to my freind Andy who restored it to it's former glory and then I delt him a mini to get it back. When he finished her I just could not let him put it on ebay for some to rip it's heart out for a mini.

why have 2 monty turbo's just to let them rust?

if he isent planning to do anything to them or cant afford to etc why doesent he let another enthusiast take them on? it seems ashame to let them rot, they are very rare now!

Maybe the owner is fully aware that even as restoration projects those who like these cars are unlikely to pay what there worth.?

Surely they are only worth what someone is prepared to pay, given their questionable condition...

alot of the probelm is some people are not perpared to pay something like £500 to £750 for them as restoe projects and would probably only offer £200.

They are rare cars now and we as part of an owners club need to do every thing we can to push values up. This will stop the scrapping of good cars and will help to make our cars more reconised classics like the MGB and the MINI and the hateful VW BEETLES

If these montegos were Ford escort mexios they would be worth £3000 easliy as restoes

If they were Ford Escort Mexicos they would have been stolen from there by now. I thought 'MINI' referred to the BMW version (being pedantic, I know). Wish I saw the appeal in the mini, s'pose I would have a different opinion had I had one as a first car. Funny how people dont even make the effort to put an outdoor cover just to keep the rain off, so long as it doesn't touch the floor and trap the damp that is!
