Alloy wheel painting

I am going to repaint the alloys on the EFi as they dont look like they have been cleaned for the last 20 years.

I am going to get some wheel silver paint (anyone able to say which is best?) but do i need primer and if so what type of primer do i need?

Any wheel silver from a motor spares type place will be crap. I have some ICI Nexa 'Felgen Silver' which is a Merc colour for wheels, its very bright, needs a laquer on top though.
