Beautiful. One of my biggest regrets is selling that. Oh well.

I do have in my spares somewhere an early dash set up, its damaged on the top box section that bolts to the steering column but is useable as you can't see the damage. It doesn't include the early glove box though.
When I find it I will let you know as its up my barn or shed in the big piles of spares.
One day I will sort these out

Went back to the graveyard as I was working only 2 miles from this 2 weeks ago but no one was about so I couldn't get to chat with the site owner.
Did take a few additional pictures and closed the Marina boot.
Will just have to try again in February

That HLS Jeff! What a terrible loss! I know I keep harping on about it. :-(

It was registered 19th April 1984. Where does this car stand among our oldest known survivors? Whether you class this car as "surviving" is arguable.

Have just seen this thread today after searching for something else but thought I would bump it up again as I would like to know more about these cars or what will become of them if this ever gets found out! The previous thread by Carl was also interesting to look at.

I would love to know more about the CAC registration MG Montego as the last Montego I owned before joining here 3 years ago was a K plate Black one just like this and think it was a CAC one aswell, but I can't remember the full registration. It had been sold to a mature gentleman in 2000 who was an enthusiast of these cars. I would hate to think if this was the car I formally owned and is now rotting away like this as in the pics and to this day I still regret selling it. It's probably too far gone now to save but does'nt look as bad a state as some of the others though.

Great shame to see all these Montego's like this and is certainly a firm reminder to properly look after all the ones I now own, as has now been sorted.

I hope more can be found out about them and well done Jeff for following this up and look forward to any more updates.

Yes am aware Andy, I know the ones he has and did speak to Patrick some time ago about them.

I don't even have a pic of the one I owned as when I bought the car, within a week it went to a Wolesley specialist to have some work done on it and then it was sold months later on my behalf by the Wolesley guy to a gentleman who had contacted me as he really wanted to buy the car, but I should not have sold it but did because the car apparantly needed more work than intended, which I was shocked by at the time.
I know I was only the second owner of the car but wether this can be checked or found out I don't know.

I'm giving this one last try after the latest Monstro has been delivered as it's the 30th anniversary issue.
My copy will be posted to him and if he still doesn't answer me then there's nothing else I can do

We know you will give it your best shot Jeff and I'm sure everyone on here wishes you the best of luck as it would be great if contact was finally made and something could be done with these cars. I have expressed my interest in one or two and will help in any way I can.
I hope the owner of the cars realises the importance of something needing to be done before all is completely lost. Fingers crossed and good luck!
