  • Are maestros getting trendy?

I could have sworn I saw an advert for the dynamo magician bloke where he was in a met blue MG maestro with his mates?

Can't seem to find it at the moment though. Was I imagining it?

I think they are getting trendy. I remember in "the day" I was never a lover of fords, any of them really, but now they're old (as in 80s era) they look great. Any car over a certain age is a pleasure to see on the road. This is therefore true of our beloved cars, it's just great to see them on the road.

Because of that and the fact that they are easy to work on and repair, they are gaining in popularity.

Not sure about trendy but my local mechanic prefers our MG Maestro Turbos to our ZT. He says that at least when you pop the bonnet on an MG Turbo you're presented with something you can work on without having to plug it into a diagnostics computer.

That is definitely part of the appeal of our cars, especially as the MOT regulations are getting more and more strict. An engine warning light is now an MOT failure. Anyway got an engine warning light on their Maestro :-)

I think they are getting there. Went from seeing almost zero featured in classic/retro magazines to nearly one a month now. its nice to see they are getting recognised.

Agreed. Now that the car has hit 30 yrs old, the worm appears to have turned e.g. the following 4 features:

Classic Car Weekly featured it in 'top 10 greatest hot hatches for under £2000' in the last month or so, and also did a feature in this edition:
