MG Turbo

Nice to see another MG Montego. Interior looks nice but the rust is definatley a worry for me. I brought my MG Efi sills looked ok wheels arches one small bubble or 2 in the centre. Needed 1 wheel arch, 1 interier wheel arch and part of a sill and 2 box sections. I also brought a 1.6 for spare door panels etc that had a larger area of wheel arch missing (not as much as this turbo though it still looked like an arch) and that had eaten all the way through to the rear corner section of the back seat?! this car needs alot of work on the rear then will need a full prep and respray. Mine was more as the bodykit needed preping but came in at 2.5K and that was 1K cheaper than Andrew Walsh in Sleaford. So all in all a good early example but a whole load of cash to get it back to normal before you find the other bits that will also need doing and they will trust me no matter how well youve stored the car its the nature of the beast.

I have to make a comment here and i'm sorry if this upsets you.

Has anyone on this site actually seen this car in the 'metal'?
I've tried a few times now but haven't got anywhere near it and it seems i'm getting fobbed off and I see it's on other sites now, so I will probably give up.
You've put on the other site ' testing the watet' so I guess your father in law doesn't rearly want sell
Shame really as it's a stange way to sell a car as I was interested in buying it, still hey ho I have other MG Montegos to finish

Have you decided to have a ponder about it and maybe go for it Jeff? If it's too good to scrap could it be another succesful project worth undertaking?

I was interested initially but as I have 4 projects on the go at the moment and not enough time to do them so I can't justify taking on another.
In end I assessed the car as its local to me and reported on it for friends who were interested but couldn't get to see it. This I've now done so its up to them what they want to do but if I didn't have these projects I would have offered enough to buy it

This car has been stored in my barn since it was bought and I met John the owner today. Nice guy and the car including lots of spares I have collected for it will be shipped out of the country soon. Being moved monday to a local dockyard for transportation.
