Thanks or the replies and PMs so far, I will speak with him and get back to you all. In the meantime, I know there's not a lot to go on, but how much are these going for?

There is no set price for a Montego turbo.

            It depends on two things.

            1) Condition

            2) what someone is willing to pay.

Wow, looks like a great restoration project. Early cars like this make me want to get my hands dirty again, plus it's got Marle Deco interior. Perfection.

I think every ones getting a little too excited about this car.

It's great to see another early car come to light but.............

The two pictures so far show it may well have potential, but we shall have to await a full picture set and description to see if the old girl is worth the time and investment to restore.

As we all know it's not a cheap car to restore due to the limited new panel work available for the Saloon.

Nothing against Kill_Bill and his family, but I have pulled many car's out of garages before, and after a full inspection many have been in pretty bad shape.

So please don't "get Bill's hopes up" just in case the poor girl has suffered while in storage.

                    Mal.

Hi Ed, not up to me. I have pm'ed Kill Bill and will leave it with him to get back to me at his leisure. I will have a look at it if he wants me to but it would have to be removed from the garage to have a proper assessment on condition etc

Very true Mal, I have walked away from quite a lot of cars of late and have also scrapped 2 as they were beyond economical repair.

I'm going to try and get up this week and get some better photos, the garage is rammed so is tricky to get into but will do my best. What sort of areas are people looking at that I should get pictures of?

Around petrol filler pipe surround and inner wings
                          Petrol filler pipe
                          Petrol tank
                          Petrol pump
                          All petrol pipes
                          Outer Sills front and rear
                          Inner sills front and rear
Rear strut tops in the boot
                          Boot floor
                          Main floor
                          Jacking points
                          Rear panel
                          Bottom of front wings
Bottom of A and B posts
                          All round sunroof area
                          Rear screen top and bottom
                          Under rear side screen trims
                          Under top of boot panel
                          All door bottoms
                          All round front screen
Both bumpers for cracks and rusting mounting brackets

                          Engine area
                          Take your pick

Does the engine turn by hand
                          Carb, is it servicable
Turbo and actuator, are they servicable
                          All gaskets
                          Cylinder head
                          Cambelt, water pump and tensioner
                          Sump
                          Engine mountings
                          Exhaust manifold
                          Complete exhaust
                          Radiator and all piping
                          Core plugs

                          Interior
Seating, torn, oil on any seats etc
                          Headlining biscuit, warped?
                          Headlining material, a sail?
                          Dash cracks
                          Door panel warps

Wheels and tyres, Tyres maybe beyond saving if not moved in many years

                          Others
If not moved for so long the handbrake might be sized on
Various wheel bearings might need changing as they have not been moved for so long
if not now then in the near future
All brake pipes etc need checking

                          Basically look everywhere

                          Thats a start for you

                            Some details
                            Date of manufacture 1985
                            Date of registration 12/11/1985
Date of liability 01/07/1998 so not on database
First chance i've had to look at the pictures on my computer and not my backberry. Looks like cracked rear bumper and small rust spot starting just under Montego on the boot

                                Some very interesting pictures.

                                First impressions are:

Interior very tidy and original although head liner will need recovering.

New inner and outer rear arch's, and rear sill repairs to start.
(possibly on both sides depending on close up inspection)

Attention to area below and possibly behind the fuel filler pocket area.

Drivers front wing may need replacing depending on how bad the "lower tail" area is by the door.

Drivers door rust (depending on how bad once cleaned back)
Pictures of other doors look ok, but not "clear enough" to make an informed opinion.

Dent rectification on drivers front roof corner.

Rear exhaust needs replacing (but likely whole system)

Full recommissioning of the engine and drive train due to long period of dormancy.
(all belt's/several flush out's of both oil and coolant/ replacement ignition components etc etc)

New tyre's / replacement imperial wheels and tyres.

                                Suspension overhaul.
Likely all bushes have hardened with standing, and will need replacing, possibly strut issues too once they have been "worked" a little.

Looks to be a good project, not quite the "breaker" going by the pictures, but certainly one that will take time and a healthy bank balance to do right.

Time will only tell, once someone with experience of these cars has taken a good long look at it in the metal.

                                Mal.
