  • Roof of the World Charity Rally

As some of you might know, in August i'm driving my Maestro to Tajikistan to raise money for two childrens charities, Save the Children and SWORDE-Teppa (more of an education charity than a childrens charity really). Will be driving over the Pamir mountains too, which are sandwiched by the Himalayas, the Tian Shan and the Hindu Kush ranges. They're pretty big anyway, think the highest peak is about 7500m.

Just wondering if any of you guys can spare a quid or two to help me get towards my target of £1000. All of the money will go to Go Help, who is the registered charity that set this rally up, and they split all of the money between Save the Children and SWORDE-Teppa.

If you want to read more about what i'm doing please see www.roperman.co.uk.
If you want to see how the fundraising is getting on see http://www.justgiving.com/Danny-Roper

    Cheers,
    Danny

Right, finally got the pics up from the rally. Been preoccupied with other things.

They're on my Flickr at the moment: http://www.flickr.com/photos/dannyro...57628044332917

Did try and upload them on here but the Add photos button is missing for me.

The car held up well over the 12,000 miles I did in it, 6000 mile loop to the Arctic, and 6000 miles to Taj. The only issues were fuel evaporation at altitude, but that was only at 3000+m. Sump guard took a bit of a battering but nothing fell off.

The car was then driven on to Mongolia in September and November.

The car is waiting to be driven back to the UK, as it is now the main vehicle in the Relay rally - see http://relay.charityrallies.org/

Absolutely brilliant pictures Danny. Clearly this was an experience of a lifetime.

            Good effort!

I wonder if it was this that inspired TEAM STRANDED?
