  • Suggestions for the committee - improvements to the club

In the light of the proposed (and now postponed) change to make this forum a members only area it is only fair that other options are presented to be assessed for their merits by the committee

I guess there are two fundamental things the club needs

    1. More members
    2. More cash in the club bank account

Please enter your ideas below so they can be considered.

    1+2.
    Offer a web membership.
Web based membership is far less costly to administer and many people receive digital subscriptions these days. You still offer a traditional club magazine subscription as well at the normal price, but also a reduced rate for web only members. This is likely to result in more members and less costs for the club (as well as reduced workload).

    1
    Extended subscriptions
1+2 year are common, but for web memberships you can offer longer subscriptions which seem attractive

    Automatically renewing subscriptions
A little more controversial but becoming popular are subscriptions that automatically renew unless you tell them otherwise.

    2.
    Offer only web subscriptions
Probably a step to radical for this club but I would guess that the production and distribution of Monstro accounts for the majority of club expenditure. Removing the printing and posting costs makes a big difference to club finances. (And also the likelihood of attracting foreign members - China perhaps?)

    2.
    Banner advertising
Commonplace on most forums these days.

    2.
    Sale of club spares stock
I know this is far easier said than done but releasing some of this capital wouldn't hurt

    Attract members from China
Not going to be an easy one but certainly one worth considering. A friend regularly ships in parts for MG-R's from china, so it is worth looking at from both a membership and a parts supply point of view.
