  • maestro tool kit/wheel brace?

Daft question but I will ask it anyhow just in case. Does the maestro wheel brace for steel wheels as in below eBay link have the same diameter socket to fit the wheel nuts for the alloys? Obviously the threads are the same. Just I don't think the tool kit in my turbo is the correct one. The wheel brace is loose on the nuts and is rounding them off every time I do jobs on the car they are removed quite often. I have stated using my socket set to remove the nuts which I don't carry with me all the time, I would be rather knackerd if I got a puncture atm. What is the correct kit for the efi/turbo? Mine is currently a modern looking foam unit with scissor jack/brace that fits inside the spare wheel.

That doesn't look like any Maestro one I've seen.

The problem with the nuts on the alloys is often the fault of the nuts as they have a plastic cover over steel nuts. Over time the plastic cover gets loose and wears so doesn't fit to the nut or in to the sockets very well. The wheel nut remover that we are blessed with is also partly to blame as it tries to "fall off" the nuts. I use a cross style wheel nut remover, these allow equal pressure to be applied upwards and downwards at the same time so only applies torque to the nuts and doesn't fall off.

My advice, definitely get a cross style (spider?) nut remover and probably some new wheel nuts.

The O/E alloy wheel nuts are 19mm.

I have a 4 way wheel brace as it applies force at 90' instead of the less useful 45' of the O/E brace.
