For some reason vw polo's seem to have it done quite a bit.
I would have thought if you get a puncture the beads could break fairly quickly causing the tyre to come off the rim. Must be hard to get them to seal when the tyres are fitted.
I'm surprised that tyre centres fit them, I rang a tyre centre in Norwich for tyres for my ZR. I also enquired for an alternative sie (215\40 17) but was told that if these were fitted my car would be impounded!! Load of crap but this bloke thought he was god

Yeah, he sounds a bit of an idiot, I think the vw people search out idiots from the other end of the spectrum!

That is a nice looking car , but those rims and tyres just look daft on any car

Well I like it, I like the who ethos of Retro Cars. Take something old, update some of the mechanicals for modern driving and lower it on some sweet alloys. Ok I grant you its the car 'fashion' of the time but its a **** load better than 00's max power effort of wild body kits and at least the car is thoroughly well looked after. each to there own though.

It's in beautiful condition, it's all down to personal taste, I'm pretty sure a lot of people would not approve of what I did to my old one that as featured in fast car over twenty years ago. It's on my photos

I agree. It's a great 'modern retro look' interpretation of the Maestro.
