It gives me great pleasure to announce we can now order Heritage Ceritificates from Gaydon for Maestros and Montegos

    MAESTRO
Hardcopy (computer printouts) and microfilm tapes (Vehicle History
Cards) from the start of production up to chassis number 290194.
Microfilm tapes (Vehicle History Cards) only from 290195-629999; but
this is not comprehensive so we cannot guarantee that every vehicle in
this number range will be recorded.

    MONTEGO
Hardcopy (computer printouts) and microfilm tapes (Vehicle History
Cards) from the start of production up to chassis number 238173.
Microfilm tapes (Vehicle History Cards) only for later number ranges,
ie 238174-510389, 526341-540999 and finally 589339-589511 but once
again this is not comprehensive so we cannot guarantee that every
vehicle in these number ranges will be recorded.

This is as a result of much communication from the club, and a great deal of assistance form the Archive Services at Gaydon!

The Heritage Motor Centre Archive department offers the proud classic car owner a Heritage Certificate which is a certified copy of the entry against the chassis number in the authentic factory ledgers.*

Discover the original numbers and colour scheme, dates of build and despatch, and where available, the details of factory fitted equipment.

Order your heritage certificate here: https://www.britishmotormuseum.co.uk...e-certificates

I for one am ecstatic at this news, a real groundbreaking moment and further recognition of our cars place in British Motor History.

I'm also ecstatic - this is the result of six months of communication between the BMiHT and the Club, and it's pleasing to see it come to fruition!

Great news! At last the day has come that both of these cars get the recognition they deserve as Classics.

We're working with what Gaydon have told us - they can't clearly define it themselves at this stage

You can always enquire as to whether your car is covered before purchasing one - I don't think 1988 will be an issue though tbh.

This announcement rather confuses me as back in September 2010 when I visited the Heritage Motor Centre by appointment to view numerous production records for research purposes, including for the Maestro, their archivist, a Mr Brutherton, advised me that they had no production records for the Maestro beyond 1985. This naturally disappointed me as I have a 1989 example.

Does this mean that they have managed to either find the 'missing' records or have managed to collate what they do have into some sort of manageable order?

We were initially told there were few records, but as our enquiry was dealt with I understand more was unearthed.

They will refund for any certificate they cant produce. Or you could ask them.

I suspect basically, our (your!) persistence caused them to actually get off their backsides and go and look at the box marked Maestro & Montego

Thanks Chris - but although I set it in motion it was Steve Osgood who managed to seal the deal, as it were. Any personal credit, if any should be given, should be given to him
