Anybody have photos of any interesting Maestros or Montegos that they have seen about?

This one I have mentioned before... it is an L reg (L*** HNE) Clubman (could be 1.3) which has full sized "Eclipse" decals from the rear wing to the front.

It must belong to a member of staff at B&Q up here, as it is always there. I took this picture today from the Rover 75 whilst at the lights. (Hence the "zoom" effects)

Obviously I wasn't going to get out and go over for a picture whilst there were customers about, so the best option whilst at the lights was to snap it. However, I had to zoom in due to it being far away, thus creating the picture to become grainy.

If you had the courage of your convictions... and being the owner of many Des O'Connor records, *I*'ve got the courage of *my* convictions... ... Get up close, man!!! No-one will respond negatively!!!

RDGelder and myself spent several hours at my mum's yesterday, working on my Vanden Plas Maestro, and one of my mum's neighbours came up and said (totally out of the blue) "I thought Maestros were only built to M-reg, why's this one [RDGelder's] an R-reg? And my Maestro was my first car and a cracking car, but I stupidly replaced it with blah blah blah" (not mentioning a Rover 214 with head gasket failure, honest...). And the look of wonderment on being told that Ledbury cars were available as late as on a 51-plate is frankly disturbing!!! "How can this possibly be, I thought they stopped at M-reg?".

Suffice to say, RDGelder's Maestro "Ledders" hasn't gone unnoticed in the local area, as the above exchange would indicate!!!

We need to be 'open' about 'our' cars... I have yet to meet anybody even remotely negative about 'our' cars (and this goes back the 7 1/2 years I have owned my Monty) - people are 'misty eyed' in my experience... "I owned a Montego [or Maestro], cracking car it was!" ain't *too* unusual a comment, although they often seem to think it was a 1.8 and not a 1.6 or even a 1.3... (honest!)

Get out and photograph 'our' cars, dont hide at the traffic lights, I would say...

Not sure about that Rich: I certainly wouldn't go around photographing strangers' cars at close range, unless both the car and I were at a car show  I can well appreciate Steve's reluctance to get up close, otherwise the next thing he could have been getting up close to was a police car

Steve to answer your question there used to be a white camper-van near where I lived, but I never got chance to photograph it. It was one of the rare ones with the elevating roof. There was also a D-reg EFi near my mum's & dad's house. It had white lines on its bonnet, roof and bumpers, as though the machine which puts yellow lines on the road had driven over the top of it. I did photograph that, but I don't know where I've put the photo. I thought the car looked bloody awful, to be quite honest.

Did it have a '*VJ or '*CJ plate? If so then it was a Parkway. Unless the vans had differing registrations.

I've seen a V-reg van around my area on a couple of occasions. I'll have to stop the driver for a chat in future.

I've seen a T plate and a 51 plate van round here so I think there must have been a company who bought a few from ledbury.

a few months ago there was a J-reg Maestro in Carlisle auction i got there just after i had sold ,it was mint, just like it had came out the factory,it had 44k on it with FRSH,It was a top of the ranger,in silver,1 owner from new, sold for £165,I found this out afterwards!

I would have bought it if the stupid old in front of me with his micra had put his foot down.

What rotten luck. What is it with these Micra drivers? I was stuck behind one for about 8 miles on a single carriageway twisty country road on Friday afternoon. I don't drive fast (impossible in my car), but this Micra driver was driving just too slowly.
