I awoke yesterday morning to find the passenger window on the DLX, smashed! Immediated thoughts were to think that CD player had gone...... still there, CD's.....still there. Whoever did this just made a mess inside.
Anyway, just wondering, will a front passenger window from a Monty fit a Maestro? Maestros are very thin on the ground in Mr. Looms' yard.
Cheers
Dean.

I would say the Montego window would fit the Maestro... ;)

Sorry to hear that. Evil :censored: I know Monty front doors are the same as Maestros. So I wouldn't see why a monty wouldn't fit.

I am 99% certain that the front doors on all maestro, montego and montego estates are identicle, the rear doors on all 3 models are diffrent.

The Monty estate rear door window will fit, whereas the saloon one won't.

Sorry for asking a stupid question, but will an estate Monty rear door therefore fit a Maestro?

Possible difference there would be the window surrounds. They are much bigger on the Montego, and I am not sure if they can be changed to suit the Maestro. Also, the interior door capping is thicker - this can easily be changed for a Maestro one.
I think...

Interesting how the glass will fit, the Monty Estate back door is 1 inch longer on the frame  The front windows will swop though.

I proved this when replacing the rear doors on my estate.
BTW I have 2 good N/S/R doors for an estate for sale.

Ooops, forgot to say, it is the front passenger door that my Maestro is mising at the mo.
I'm glad that a Monty one will fit though, gives me more chance of getting one at the breakers.
Cheers

Can't believe you threw a chrome mirror in the bin, because the glass was broken  :rage: More money than sense. It took me ages to find some replacement ones for my car, and you threw one away.

All the above reminds me; does anyone have the chrome (shiny backplate) for the passenger mirror available?
The automatic has the mirror unit but just the chrome plate is missing!!
Thanks

Thats what I needed for my wing mirror as well, they are very scarce nowadays, which is why I was shocked maestromad threw his in the bin.
I had to wait ages to find one, then one came up on ebay. I will keep my eye out for you incase I see one.

Pretty sure you can get them from Rover if you ask nicely. A82 had a brand new one from Rover which, tragically, has fallen off and got lost on the road despite being Araldited on. Luckily, I got a spare from the MGM day in Coventry last year.

thats a shame skatiechik but is it a biddin site and people can get outbid
sounds like those door mirrors are hard for people to get hold ogf, i find them easily in scrqapyards and ebay, lots of them about here so i can afford to toss them out
skatiechik, heres one thats been taken hostage, put up the £200 ransom money or the mirror gets it

thats quite funny, your quite right about ebay, it seems that those willing to pay the higest price win the prize, you cant bear grudges, best to be a good loser and get back on with it.
welcome 'maestromad' your in good company here:laugh:

Eh up, who's that blonde bird on that newsp.... err... yes, there seems to be quite a bit of trouble when it comes to people being outbid on eBay, but you're doing nothing illegal I suppose, Maestromad. But how come you're bidding on VP stuff when your car is a diesel??

Perhaps if your car needs so much maintenance it would be worth tossing it out and getting a better one, seems they are quite a few maestros round your way.
But whilst we are on the subject of chrome mirrors, if you can get hold of them so freely and afford to throw decent ones away then perhaps you could offer to send Katana one as he needs one.

What the Daily Mail has to do with a mirror I don't know, but then I am sure you know what that association is. I stick to broadsheets myself.
Its there to show that the picture was taken today, some hostage photos have a hostage holding a copy of the paper for that day to show that the hostage is alive and that its not an old photo,

some times people get attached to cars and go over the top tying to save them, I'm a bit like that to be honest. you do need some cash for that attitude and thats why I got a good maestro, cos i havnt got the money to get attached to a rot box.

It is normally customary to buy parts to do up the one car, not parts to do up 20cars :banghead:

thats right h48hpe of course its only a joke;)
f170 ggt im trying to build up a pile of spares the future when spares will be hard to come by, ive been going for parts for various models cos you never know what cars your going to get other parts i like to collect such as badges and manuals
tony
26th February 2004, 19:53
So let me get this straight you can find spares easily in your scrapyards (in particular chrome wing mirrors) so you can afford to throw them away.
But now you are contradicting yourself by saying your trying to build up a pile of spares. But surely if you were building up a pile of spares you wouldn't threw perfectly good spares away? Also when you say various models don't you mean all models,
infact anything which has the name maestro on it?

it seems my ebaying has given me a bad name before ive even started here.
that mirror was broke, others come up so i thought id just get rid of it, i had scuffed it on a wall anyway. I tend to stop at scrap yards if i see them and get parts like that when they are on offer. also as u have gathered im an ebay fanatic. I've seen the posts about me made by various people and they can say what they like, if I want somthing Ill bid on it. sorry if thats offended anyone but thats always been my way. I tend not to sell my parts on cos otherwise i might as well not bother getting them in the first place.
I do have a fair ammount of stuff in my parts pile now, i got lots of stuff in a job lot from a bloke in doncaster, he said he was clearing a mates shop out. my star buy has to be the heater pipes that run into the car (the steel ones) i got them for a fiver from that bloke. I had to travel to pick the stuff up but the prices I paid more than made up for it.
Although I only have one car now, I want an MG (not a turbo) a 1.3 and a 1.6. judging by some of your post four cars is minimal, it seems that some of you moaning about me have the equivelent of a scrap yard in their back yards and a stock of parts to match I cant help feeling that you are a bit two faced with me.

Fair play. It's human nature to be narked when another ebayer outbids you. I've largely given up on ebay for parts and there is a danger that items on offer can exceed their true value-but that's the risk that you take... It's nice to have a look at what's on offer though!
