There have been a similar thread not long ago, but I have a question! I have acquired a Ledbury Maestro and am wondering if these cars are equipped with low compression engines? What is the correct setting for the timing?

To tell if you have a high or low compression engine check the engine number prefix, 12H indicates high compression, 12L low compression.
Ignition timing settings are
low compression 8 degrees BTDC @ 1500rpm vacuum pipe disconnected and plugged.
high compression 14 degrees BTDC @ 1500rpm vacuum pipe disconnected and plugged.
(9 times out of ten on a HC engine with todays fuel the timing will have to be set to 12 degrees @ 1500rpm vacuum pipe disconnected and plugged to eliminate pinking)

Thank you for your helpfull information! The fuel quality is no object in Denmark: Shell has recently reintroduced leadfree 99 octane....
