Hello all,
There are a set of rear seat belts on ebay (number 2456463297). would these be the correct colour for my early 1.6 automatic with the blue interior?
If they are I would like to get them. I know I need to cut holes in the rear plastic panels for the belts to go through - where can I get the required blue trim pieces?
Is there anything else I need to be aware of with regard to fitting?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Tim

Yeah, I know, I'm wonkey.donkey, the highest bidder.
I was in contact with Maria about some blue seatbelts but rather than bother her I thought I'd bid for these.
Maybe you could speak to her about getting the ones we were talking about - it's gotta be less money than my highest bid ;)

D'oh... sorry. Life keeps catching up with me :(
I promise I'll get hunting for those belts. I may even have more than 1 set. If only my "garage" wasn't 7 miles away from the house and/or I had a working car :(

Okay then,
I suppose I could leave them to you - It is my sixth vehicle!!!
Does anyone have answers to my other questions?
Maria, how much for a set?
Thanks
Tim

Thanks, Tim!
I asked the same question a little while ago and it seemed very easy. You'll need to make holes in the C post for the tops of the belts to screw in but all the mounting places are there.
The only other problem is if your rear shelves don't have the correct slot in them through which the belt passes. My car doesn't so I'll have to either be creative or find some different shelves.
Take it easy

I have fitted seat belts to both my A-reg Maestros. I found it easiest to get a whole set of bits instead of mucking about drilling holes in brittle plastic. You will need:
1. The belts and all the bolts and plastic caps
2. parcel shelf panels with slots
3. pillar trim with holes
4. star shaped spanner bit from Draper (take a bolt to a tool shop to get the right size)
Do the side without the interior bootlight first as this gets in the way and is best tackled after you have got the hang of it. Also the belts recoil and lock when removed from a car and they are a nightmare to release.
This is what the belts in my MG1600 look like in the rear:

I fitted the eBay seatbelts this afternoon and can now give you a little advice.
It's pretty straight forward except:
1) When bolting the latches to the rear floor there are two assemblies. One with two latches and the other with a latch and the lapbelt. Although these assemblies have three bolt holes only two are used and the outer bolt screws into a threaded hole on the floor while you have to use a nut and bolt for the centre one as there's no thread in the hole.
2) The C-post trim on my VP didn't have a hole the the top of the belt to screw in. I've removed this until I can drill it.
3) The rear shelves didn't have holes for the belts to pass through - I managed to find some blue ones in the scapper.
4) The boot carpet has four holes marked in it if you look carefully. You need to cut out the OUTER ones and create two more in line with them equidistant from the inner ones. Don't cut out the inner ones as I did :(
Have fun and thanks again for not bidding against me on the auction.
