The offside engine mounting rubber on my 93 TD has split in two. Went to the local scrapper and both their Maestros have the same rubber, so much the same they're even split in two, Oh Well.
Clearly the weight of the engine will press the upper and lower halves together, but I am afraid there may be a chance of upward movement of the block if vibration is sufficient. Would I take a risk in driving like that? Even if there is no risk of damage I don't fancy shaking like a tractor.
Tried Araldite to fix the two halves, is there some ultra-sticky-stuff for rubber?

I've not looked at mine, but are you sure they shouldn't be in two pieces :D
If not use vulcanising rubber cement (the stuff you put patches on your bike inner tubes with) that'll stick it if it is real rubber.

The rubbers are available separately from the dealer without going to the expense of buying a whole new mounting assembly.

Thanks Guys, I'll try the bike kit. I rang Rover about this bit of rubber with a bolt through it, it's forty quid, I've put that in words in case of disbelieving doubters! Rang two dealers in case one was wrong.........

Thanks ETV. Regret I tried the bike-glue but the way the mount has split has left a very jagged irregular join so it would'nt work. Still curious to know what the effect may be of driving with it split? The engine obviously won't move downwards, and I can put up with a bit of vibration until I find another rubber.
If anyone knows a scrapper with a diesel Maestro/Montego I'll ring them and try for mail order if they've got a rubber? I'm already trying scrappers 30 miles away and it's tipping it down out there!
Has the email notify packed up for anyone else or is it just me?

The best way to undo it is to place an allen key in the top part of the mount (holding it against rotaion) and then undo the nut with a cranked ring spanner.
If the nut is really tight/not been undone for ages then this is what usually splits the rubber. Or an over zealous airgun!!
I have PM'd you about a mount Brian.
