montego top-end rattle

Montego's are new to me. I wanted something different so i decided to buy a MG montego turbo, bit of a rust bucket but with a long summer in front of me, she'll be right as rain.

i have read that a rattle'y engine is better that an quiet one!!! you can hear a slight tappet noise at idle but lift the rev's to 3000 rpm and a ratle can be herd. any ideas??
