My courtesy light doesn't seem to work when it's on the open door setting, any ideas what the problem could be?

cheers

the switch has 3 positions, the middle is off, then moved to one side its on all the time and moved to the other side its door controled. a problem on both my dads old maestro and mine was that the switch wasnt making a good contact on the actual light, so it might be like that on yours. if the contacts are ok in the lights then Id think about the door switches, they work by making a contact to earth when the door is opened. If the lights dont work at all then it could be the fuse?

a few questions to help with the diagnosis:

how many interior lights do you have?
do them come on with one door and not the other (the back doors have no switches)?
can you opperate them so they come on permenantly via the switches on the lamps?

The light works fine, I think it is something to do which the door switches. Maybe I should unscrew them and see if their is a loose connection? One door switch seems to work ok but the other one doesn't.

~Very confusing~

I have sorted it now. It was because the little plastic stoppers on the doors had come off, so the switches werent being depressed when the doors were closed. I have replaced them with some similar sized pieces of rubber which I have glued on.

Cheers for your help though ;)

I dont think that was your problem, as the switches make earth when they are fully out, even a slight move in switches them off, I thik that you fiddling with them has caused a better contact but good news all the same
