does anyone know if austin rover made an option to fit a rear seat conversion in their vans, like a lot of other companies did.
Or has anyone fitted their own from another model? Would be grateful for any advice,as i'd really like to fit some in my van if poss.

I saw one for sale at BL Day last year so I guess they must have done. Never seen one in a van though.

You must sit 'pope-mobile' fashion in it I would have thought as there isnt really enough room for passengers to get their feet down behind the drivers seat. You could mount a pair of front seats in the load compartment I would have thought trouble is though is seatbelt mounts if its post 86

What age is your van? It will be fairly difficult to fit a seat conversion now as it will need seatbelts and there are no easy anchor points on the van, unless it is an early one where rear seatbelts are optional.

its a B reg 1985.not sure if i need rear belts? it would be useful to have a rear seat for occasional use though.

If it's B reg then it won't need rear seatbelts. My 1986 C reg Maestro Vanden Plas didn't have any either.

If you need to fit rear seat belts, then you could fit lap belts, anchored to the floor pan, with big square type washers.(not that you need them).

Some escort vans, and other models vans ive seen have had rear bench type seats fitted, probably as an optional extra, and could be made to fit you van,if your handy on the spanners!

If your worried that the trim colour wont match, then you could always have them re-trimmed,to match.

Just a thought.....;)

my Maestro van has a rear seat conversion. It was manufactured by this firm:

They also made the sliding bulkhead for it aswell!

Spoke to them last year and they are able to assist.

Good luck!:)
