Hi,

I have just registered on this forum in the hope someone can help me ...

I have a 1998 Lotus elise with a 1.8 16v K-series engine ... my clutch is on it's way out so I'm after a new one. I have been told a genuine unipart maestro/montego turbo complete clutch kit will fit and be better than the OEM part + the AP racing clutch available for my car ...

Can anyone point me in the direction of how to get my hands on one ?

Has anyone on here ever heard of this being done ?

Thanks in advance, sorry if I'm crashing in on the forum without the correct car !!

Hamish :)

What size is the friction plate of your current setup? The monty/maestro one is 215mm. If you can go bigger then the 228mm of the rover T16 turbo 200/400/600/800, has a much larger clamping capacity which is capable upto 250ftlb if not higher.

What sort of torque level are you looking to handle?

If you definatly want a monty/maestro turbo one then ask your motorfactor to order one as LUK still list them in their book.

Assuming the Elise uses a PG1 gearbox I would have thought the clutch from any PG1 gearboxed car would fit.

There are at least two sizes of PG1 clutch though which is why I mentioned it above. The common ones are 215mm and 228mm.
