hi folks, long time no post - hope everyone is well and thier BL/AR/MG products are going well.
what is the most affective method of removing the factory applied underseal??

How much do you plan to remove? A rotary type of thing - grinding disc, wire cup brush etc will be messy and liable to clogging up. A hot air stripper and a scraper would soften it if you can get under an edge, then peel it as if paint stripping. Don't overheat it though as the rubbery u/seal can burn and fume a bit and gets v hot if you touch it.

agreed - a hot air gun and wallpaper scraper type tool is effective.

Exactly what I use.. VERY effective, just remember to wear gloves and goggles.

thanks lads, and finally, advised steps to re coating the floor/underside of the car and how to deal with seams i.e. welding or seam sealing?

Well this is what I do.
Assuming it is bare metal then:
Zinc primer
Hammerite - leave to cure for a week or more
Seam sealer on all the seams
Underseal
Underseal
Job done.
