Hi ,
Just bought oil / oilfilter for my 1.3LX G reg maesto .
Shop where I bought the oil filter said that there were 2 oil filters for a G reg Maestro .
He supplied me a CHAMPION B101 Oil filter
states on side its for
Maestro 1.3 L,HLE oil cooler 48kW )03/83 - 1990)
Is it the right one ?
I have no manual to work from ,
how much oil for a oil & filter change ?
what torque setting to use ?
cheers Steve

Hi steve,
the total oil you should need to refill the system is approximately 2.7 litres,(thats with new oil filter on)
in the haynes manual, there is an illustration of the oil filter on a 1.3 and its a unipart GFE 150,
the 2 types of oil filter listed are CHAMPION D102 (without oil cooler) and CHAMPION B101(with oil cooler)these filters should be standard as L/LX/HLE are just trim and gadget levels, maybe some other member could clarify this as i am going off the manual.
Reference the torque,i go by hand tight,as you might damage the seal, then just check for leaks/weeping.
hope this helps,
malc.

They've sold you a filter for a car equipt with an oil cooler, my car is a 1990 H reg and it doesnt have an oil cooler and I would have thought yours would be similar to mine.
If you havn't got an oil cooler i would get them to change it for the other one as it probably wont fit correctly
when you put the new filter on smear some engine oil on the rubber seal and tighten it hand tight only, dont put it on with a chain wrench or anything like that, although you might need one to get the old one off.
I buy unipart filters for mine and duckhams semisynthetic oil. the filter costs me less than a fiver and the oil costs around £10 for a big bottle I think.

As per H48's diagram, the oil cooler is number 7 and it has hoses into it,if there are no hoses at the top of your oil filter(fitted) it hasn't got one.
Reference the sump drain plug torque settings the info i have is as follows;
lbf ft 28
Nm 38
make sure you replace the split washer.:)
