Chaps,

Is it possible to make the digidash speak if it's not installed in the car?

I've got a Digidash trip computer disassembled, ready to go in my Maestro VP and wondered if I could put a 12v supply on it and connect a speaker.

There are two multiplugs, one appears to be for the power (with 4 wires, black, purple, yellow with grey trace and purple with white trace) the other has only two wires (green with grey trace and orange with grey trace).

The motherboard has the following markings (where visible):

Purple: BATT+
Yellow/Grey: F/F
Purple/Grey: CL

I've also got the voice synth relay but guess I might not need it for this purpose....

I know that purple and black are the power supply but what are the other connections?

Cheers!

It must be possible as the club has one wired up on a board for demo purposes!

Yes, I was going to say I wired up the unit to make the dash speak ages ago for the club stand. Its still sat in my garage. The easiest way to get it to speak is to plug in the diagnostic kit. It should be possible to make it speak by wiring it up manually but without the diagrams infront of me I couldn't say how.

If you have the Haynes manual "maestro 83-92 for 1.3 and 1.6" it has the wiring for the solid state instruments.

However in a nutshell,
purples are constant live
black is earth
yellow/trace do all sorts of things

You will need the voice synth if you want voice, it's what converts the digi signal to output for speakers.
