I just thought id sing the praises of my local rover dealer.

Dixon Rover at doncaster

Ive been well pleased with the service and advice i get there. they take an interest in my car and are always helpfull. I never use discount centres for anything now, i always use Rover or my local scrap yard.

I was suprised that you can still get most parts new. I got a set of original mudflaps which were made this side of the year 2000. they make a real difference to the look of the car. they cost £14.03 before VAT. the only part they havnt been able to suply is one of the 1.3 engine heater hoses. another suprisingly nice touch was a new pre-bent vacuum hose (that one from the inlet manifold) which cost only a few quid.

im building a stock of bits up so ive got them for the future

its just for two. they are original rover ones with the proper badge on. they are slightly diferent from the ones fitted to earlyer cars but i think they r more risistant. i was trying to collect four from scrapyards but i havvnt had much luck, i got a pair for the front, but you dont find many in the scrapyards, the metal retaining plate tends to rust and split in to 2.

im sure they will ave a fair supply, the ones i got were stamped with a date this side of the the year 2000.

the post I made above still stands true i.e the parts desk at my local rover is really good. however I wouldnt take my car there for work doing again, it seems they were more interested in going over my car with a fine tooth comb and finding other stuff wrong with it than fixing what I actually paid them to do. Ive posted today about my MOT being past but only cos the bloke adjusted my emmisions down from 4% CO to 2.5% CO, a task I suposedly paid rover to do for over £40 Im now wondering if they even bothered to check my timing. It did run a bit better after they 'messed with it' but I could have done it to that standard, I thought id get them to do it cos it would get done properly.

Anyway the purpose of this post is to warn people away from using rover for work on their cars. its really isnt worth the extra cash you pay, id pick a good backstreet garage now or DIY.
