Just got myself a "new" Maestro van 1.3 petrol. Just looking forward to a drive as the van itself looks mint in light blue. Stunning bodywork I have to say! However, after doing a few miles, I went to go into 1st and there's nothing there. THERE'S NOTHING THERE IN ANY GEAR AT ALL. It feels like they are going into place, but then I let the clutch out and nothing happens. Any help much appreciated by relatively new member!!
THANKS FOR THE REPLIES. GOOD TO KNOW THAT THE CLUB IS SO ACTIVE! ANYWAY, I HAVE GOT TO THE BOTTOM OF THE PROBLEM NOW. A CV JOINT HAS GIVEN UP THE GHOST AND SO THE VAN THOUGHT IT WAS DRIVING ALONG MERRILY AND OF COURSE, NOTHING WAS HAPPENING. CHEERS FOR NOW, MARTIN

if you turn the engine off , and then can select your gears then you have a clutch problem, if not you have a gearbox problem
theres a good chance the gearbox has to come out tho.
but check the clutch cable and or gear linkages 1st.

The plastic bushes on the gear linkage are prone to failing, you can often pop them back in but they pop out again after a little while.

This is on the 'rods' on the gear linkages to the rear of the 'box in the engine bay) that Tony was referring to. Cable ties are your friends ;) , :o but they do the job for the foreseeable future...

Thanks for the help Tony. As it turned out, a cv joint had gone on me. Poor van thought it was driving along merrily but drive not reaching wheel.!!
