Just had a new carb delivered for my 1.6 lx auto car now starts ok but after a while starts to idle irratically then it cuts out won't start again till next day . the two things I have noticed is smoke coming out of air filter and the car doesn't like crankcase breather connected to carb the breather is quite fumy and very slight water vapour is coming thro .What im i missing? Cheers in advance.

Is the breather system choked with mayo? Take of all the pipes, push a broomstick thru them - you may be amazed what comes out!

will check tomorrow can blow throgh breathers so not blocked

Smoke coming from the air filter could be a blockage in the exhaust, what condition is the exhaust in? Smoke could also be weak mixture or ignition timing retarded.

Have you blocked the crankcase breather connection at the carburettor or have you just pulled off the pipe and left the carb connection open to atmosphere?
