What is my car trying to tell me,yeterday I was waiting for a mate while sitting in the car. I got a bit bored and started pressing the buttons on the trip computer. If you press the bottom ones she goes through the full voice stuff and if you press a couple of others the car shows 150mph which I knew about but if you press and hold time it shows 16.14 which wasnt the time by the way! Anyone know what it is?

Cheers

There are some different modes for the dash

If you press the bottom 3 buttons down simultaneously (fuel , dis, ave) it will go though all of the voice warnings (only some if the restrict button is pressed)

There is also a showroom mode, press time and ave simultaneously, and it will show max speed, some revs, half fuel and half temp, and the trip computer will show dummy readings

Pressing time should give you the date - not sure what your reading means though!! Have you set the date?

I like your idea Simon, but the 16th of fourteenuary makes it an unlikely solution. :)

Smartie Pants!! I meant that when plugged in initially, it's not out of the question that the date may have assumed some random value that's not within the ranges of normal date values. If the date is re-set then it'll start counting correctly.

I'm not *that* stupid ;-)

He's right you know...holding the Time button does show the date, but unless you correctly set it in the first instance it'll just show some random numbers between 00 and 23.

Russ here in the 14th month!

How do you set the date? Actually when you have the battery off and reconect it the time always shows 9:70 ! it must have been some new time red robbo was working on to get more tea breaks :)

iirc you set the date in the same way you set the time, but you hold the time button in while you do it so that it's displaying the date (I must be getting old, only 8 months since I sold the VP and already I can't remember how to work it).

Here's the relevant page from the handbook, with an incredible spelling mistake that I hadn't noticed before!
