Does anyone know if I can replace the rear speakers in my Maestro with 6x9s by using the original cabling?
Also Whats the best way of fitting them as theres no way they'll fit where the original ones are....maybe will have to cut two holes on either side of the parcel shelf...

If you don't mind canibalising you back shelf - and having your prized speakers on show for all to see - you can mount your speakers in the two end recesses on the back shelf

The existing cabling will be fine, providing it will reach your speakers. You'll probably find you need to chop off the clips and extend the cabling so that you can still lift up the parcel-shelf with the tailgate raised.

We have our speakers cut into the parcel shelf. They look fine (I will try posting a picture up). Also the sound is really good.

You can put the speakers in the lowered area on the parcel shelf and cover the whole shelf with some acostic cloth.

Get a shelf from the breakers and keep one for when you sell the car.

You may need to strengthen the shelf, a couple of baterns underneath should do the trick.

Don't cut the cable, use matching connectors to make extensions to the existing cables, they only cos a few pence and you will be able to disconnect the speakers if you need to remove the shelf.

Alternativly you could run new cable from your head unit to an amp in the boot, fit the 6x9s as above and also a sub and go max head style.
