Can anyone tell me the sort of load I can safely tow with JOE?
23 years old, 1.6 manual.
I want to hire a "cherry picker" to do some tree work and the hireman says its weighs a metric ton.
I wondered if Joe's age would reduce the safe towing load.
I'll have to tow it about 16 miles there and back.
Thanks.

When did you pass your test? If it is after 97 then you are limited as to what you can tow by your driving license.
Also how much does the trailer that the cerry picker goes on weigh and is it braked or not?

Most hire places will deliver and collect.

Then theres the weight of the trailer, the cherry picker might tow the maestro :)
Its not the pulling thats important its stopping, (tractive effort and brake force) the problems arise if you have an incident while towing and plod finds the load to much

Talking as an experienced tow man (class 1 LGV/car trailers etc) I would not want to tow 1000kg with a 1.6!
A 2.0 (petrol or diesel) isn't too bad.

It's about what I thought - I think I'll let the hireman deliver it, although it will cost another £16. Thanks for the advice one and all.
