Can anyone help out there? :( I left my MG Maestro 2.0 EFi overnight to find the battery totally dead in the morning. When I tuned the engine off I noticed the batter light still illunminated even thought the key was out. I managed to get it going again in the morning with the aid of jump leads and drove it around for a bit, but now it is toally dead again. An ex-mechanic mate of mine thinks I need a new alternator...has anyone out there got one I can buy?

Cheers. Paul

Most common fault seems to be worn brushes which are quick and cheap to replace with the regulator box. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Lucas-A127-Alternator-Brushbox-Regulator-1983-onwards_W0QQitemZ150221473259QQihZ005QQcategoryZ30 921QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I have seen more comprehensive alternator reconditioning kits on e bay that include the rectifier and bearings if required, and still work out much cheaper than a reconditioned alternator. Search under the alternator model rather than the car model.
