I've just aquired a Metro VP while i take the DLX off the road for some much needed T.L.C.

It's pictured below, it's only got 25K on the clock! Cost me £350! It's got the odd rough patch here and there but it is almost 18 year old.

Hope i don't get black balled by the club for buying it! At least it is still Austin Rover.

I was wondering about the fuel. The bloke said it runs on unleaded, but i'm unsure with it being an 'E' reg. Will running a A+ on unleaded harm it? I'll ask again when i pick the car up.

Cheers Dean.

Hi Dean!

As far as I'm concerned the only Metro that's acceptable is a VP! But then I would say that wouldn't I...?!

I'll take a look a little later on to see the pic.

Don't know exactly about the fuel issue although I suspect that it was designed for leaded fuel but runs okay on unleaded. If I were you I'd run it on Shell Optimax and use an additive to keep it happy. You could always just replace the cylinder head if you were that bothered...

Happy Christmas,

As a general rule of thumb, all Metros with a low-level fuel-filler need 4*/LRP/unleaded + octane-boost, while "high-filler" cars can take draught unleaded
