I have a contact in Halesowen who has just unearthed two boxes of Leyland cuff links (£10 each), Maestro/Montego key rings (£4 each) and possibly some Maestro/Montego ties too (£4 each). There are plenty of Leyland & Austin Rover brochures and literature on offer too, although I took the last of the Maestro/Montego ones :p

Anyone interested?

The chap isn't on the net unfortunately, so pictures aren't really a possibility. However, I do have a Maestro tie of my own (and it cost considerably more than £4!) which I've scanned to show what they look like. A bit rare and not the sort of thing you want to wear to work every day (a bit loud for a start).

I will have a Maestro tie if theres one going please! How do we go about getting them Jon?

MaestroMatt and I have just seen this post and would *love* one of each, each, if you see what I mean.

That Maestro tie would look fantastic in my untimately tasteless tie collection.

Just let us know where to send the cheque, Jon!

I'd be interested in the tie and the cuff-links (one of the former and one pair of the latter).

It's amazing what people just 'unearth', isn't it?

Put me down for one of everything. :)

Jonathan
21st December 2003, 09:58
Glad to see there's some interest then! There are Montego ties aswell, Tony. I'll have to make further enquiries tomorrow as to how much of everything there is, there could be two ties or there could be ten for all I know. I'm a little concerned that demand may actually outstrip supply here because we're not talking mass quantities, in which case I'll devise a fair method of distributing the goods ;)

Simon
21st December 2003, 12:23
If the cufflinks are "Austin Rover" then I'd have a pair for sure otherwise no, and a Maestro tie would be nice too, but I'd be willing to give way to more urgently needy cases.

I would be ineterested in anything Maestro please.

I think the tie would be brilliant for the next classic VW Beetle convention:cool:

How can we get the kit exactly???

Thanks

It looks like the ties may have been given to a charity shop :(

They're very rare and worth a fair bit, so that's a real disappointment. However, for the enthusiastic collector there's more I'm told!

BL pin badges x3, a supercover badge and sticker/cardholder (the one that went behind the rear view mirror) £3, Some Longbridge "Family Day" (effectively an open day for staff) felt tip pens, Austin Rover & Leyland cloth badges £3 each, an Austin Morris cap badge as worn by security staff at the time (£7 very rare), a 1986 Austin Rover mug £6, a number of Austin Rover dealer keyrings, 3 Maestro keyrings, 2 Montego keyrings, 1 Austin Rover keyring (he wants £3 for key rings) and 3 'as new' 1:43 model Metros in boxes that were souveniers at family days. £10 each. Or it can go as a job lot.

The cuff links are BL not Austin Rover, there are two sets. If there's enough interest I'll ask for the items required and they can be obtained via me (I don't stand to make any profit from this, of course!) I'm dreadful for collecting usually returning from autojumbles with more bits of nostlgia and merchandise than useful parts for the car, but don't really want to accumulate even more "clutter" :)

Can you not find out which charity shop? As i am sure the charity shop wouldn't be charging much for them.

I'll have the 3 maestro keyings and the austin rover one as well please. Assuming no-one else wants one :)

Can i put my name to a set of BL cufflinks and a BL pin badge?

:)

MaestroMatt

I definitely want a set of BL cufflinks. Shame about the tie though - I was looking forward to wearing that to my next interview.

Jonathan
29th December 2003, 13:17
So I'll ask for the following, then...

2x BL Cufflink sets @ £10 each (for RDGelder, Maestromatt, possibly F690 - fight!!)
1x BL Pin Badge (for RDGelder)
3x Maestro Keyrings @ £3 each (for Skatiechik, onza100, possibly Katana550)

Is that everything?

Jon, if I am not to late, I will take the mug, an austin rover keyring, and a maestro keyring!

Thanks, Rich

Jonathan
29th December 2003, 23:21
Ok, I'll ask for the mug aswell then. There are only 3 Maestro key rings as far as I remember (Maria may have some more?) and two sets of cufflinks. I'm sure we'll work something out.

Yesterday I received the merchandise discussed on this thread ages ago which we bought as job lot, and am now ready to distribute. If you're interested in an item please PM me. Starting prices as indicated earlier in the thread (not including any postage costs of course) and if there's more than one person interested in an item it goes to the highest bidder ;) I think that's the fairest way to do it. The photographs aren't that clear so I can always place individual items directly onto the scanner if requested.

Remember that most of this is pretty rare and collectible now. It's not all in A1 condition but I'll point out any defects. Not everything is directly Maestro/Montego related either, so any surplus will go on ebay.

can we not get the supercover stuff reproduced so theres more people can have them? its a rare find that, and one that will need to be reproduced so cars from the early period can look showroom? Im thinking along the lines of the supercover stickers Rich has hed reproduced. (I will remember to send him my philips radio security stickers some time soon)

Hence the word "mug." :D ;)

Reproduction is a good idea, a SuperCover sticker would go well with the AA SuperCover card I have in F170 GGT's Service Record. ;) :)

I suppose things like Supercover Stickers and Philips Radio Stickers should be reproduced and added to the clubs regalia section...

I'd love one of keyring No.7, "Drive the flag", Please, please grovel, beg, I'll do anything...honest. Thanks in advance!
:) :) :)

Those supercover stickers should be our latest reproduction. They really do take me back to my youth. They were first seen late 1975 believe it or not. Idea was resurrected sometime in 1981 until 1984. You could also get Austin Rover supercover AA membership plastic cards, individualised to the particular car.

Reminder: Keyring No.7, one off please. Thanks (Is this overkill?!)
 Want one!

Here's a closer look at the cufflink designs, placed directly onto the glass of my scanner. Thanks for expressing so much interest so far...

Oh and I'd better clarify that what you see is what you get, there's only one of everything unfortunately, which is why I thought we'd do it auction style where there's over demand to keep it fair.

Any more? There are still a few keyrings and pin badges.

Thanks

Want to send a private message? Just click on the blue username in the top left of a post and all should become clear.

If you're the only person interested in an item contact me to confirm you're still interested and I'll reply with the total payable including postage (or you can wait and I'll reserve them for you to pick up at a future event) and methods of payment.

Thanks.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm sure this is a very simple keyring; basically a bit of printed paper between two plastic halves of the keyring. They are used as the cheapest kind of promotional keyring all over the place. So surely it must be reproduceable??

Also, surely it would be possible to reproduce the mug as well; there are many high street shops offering to transfer 'photos onto mugs/t-shirts/etc. so this would also be a simple design - possibly with the club logo on the side as well??

Just a thought but with so many takers for various items it would be a logical progression:p

Anything can be reproduced in theory, it's just the usual problem of unit order.

Thanks to all who've contacted me to confirm their position.

The tie is not for sale I'm afraid A40 unless you want to make me an offer I can't refuse ;) That's my tie and it turned out that my source no longer had any because he'd given them away. He wasn't happy when I told him how rare they are and what they're worth.

The supercover sticker is withdrawn for the moment but if we can sort out getting some reproduced there'll be plenty to choose from.

How about interested parties just PM me with the highest they're willing to bid for the mug and square cufflinks? We don't have any flashy auction software but this way it's anonymous and I'll announce the highest bid on Friday 2nd before confirming it sold next Monday evening in case anyone wants to advance on it. I won't just make up a silly figure either ;)

Bids so far: 1 (£7.50)
