hi all, just brought an MG maestro turbo, which i am going to reshell using the shell from my near mint (well the shell is anyway) 1.3 model. The turbo will not start, have found the problem is not spark, so i have done the basics, coil ok, plugs ok, cap ok. have checked crank sensor resistance and ac current, all ok, checked wiring feeds and earths etc, and have come to the conclution that the ignition ecm is not switching the coil. have taken unit aprt and no burnt bits. Am looking for one now really to try.

Just wonder if anyone has a ecu for sale, or is in northamptonshire area and has one i could borrow and see if the car will fire. Or if someone has had this problem before.

bare with me on this but
what about the cut off thing thats behind the radio? what does that cut power to? is it the fuel pump? or coil , or both?

good thinking i had not though of that, looking at the wiring diagrams, it is consivable that if the switch was triggered it could cut the spark. i have just made sure the switch is in the right place and it is. i will do more tests tomorrow.

Keep you posted

The inertia switch just custs the fuel pump.

I'd check that the ignition relays aren't stuck (give em a whack!), and make sure that the fuel pump energises etc.

Check the connection for the crank sensor as they corrode or rub on the driveshafts sometimes.
