Hi,
I'm in the process of converting an '88 1.3 4-speed Maestro to a 5 speed using a late-model VW box.
The box is mated up and works but I'm lacking some crucial bits, namely the left-hand gearbox mount which is quite different to my original 4-speed. According to Haynes, they changed from a 3 to a 4 point mounting system on the later models.
What I'm looking for is the body mount (including rubber bush) and the 'L' shaped arm that fits to the left hand end of the gearbox.
I'm also looking for a rear gearbox mount with which I gather the later models were fitted with. This isn't so crucial as I may be able to fabricate something.
Finally (I know I'm probably asking the impossible!) the one bit that will allow me to select all 5 gears and reverse properly is a suitable gear-stick 'plate' - essentially the box that the gear lever sits in. For obvious reasons these differ between 4 and 5 speed models.
Can anybody help source these or possibly point me towards a good breakers yard?
Many thanks in advance.
Richard
