What should I do?

I'm currently the owner of E898 OEA, a blue 2.0 efi MG Maestro.

The problem is that I'm 18, and the 2.0 engine doesn't agree with any insurance companies. :(

I need a car for when I pass my driving test, but I can't really afford to spend much more than £200 on it, with a long MOT.

My Maestro is really neglected by me. I can't help it as I live more than 5 miles away from it and can't get to work on it. It hasn't been started in over 8 months, and the last time I saw it, I tried to treat the rust on the arches and tailgate with Hammerite Kurust. Don't know if its worked, but it did on my Dads Volvo 440.

Do I sell OEA and get a new car, or keep it and carry on cycling to college?

I don't really want to sell it, but its wasted on me in my opinion. If I did sell it, I'd rather it go to a club member wanting a bit of a project (doesn't need that much work), than go to a lout who'd trash and abuse it. Its only done 82k.

Help please....:(

Yeah yer right, insurance companies don't like young lads driving cars with big engines. If i was in your position I'd probably sell the MG and use the procedes to fund the purchase of another Maestro with a smaller engine like the 1.3. I have the 2.0 Diesel which I've found a bit more pricey on insurance than the 1.3 but far cheaper than an MG with the added bonus of excellent fuel economy which more than makes up for it. Ideal if you're a poor student like myself. I plan to own an MG Maestro some day but I'm waiting until I earn a good NCB first!
