View Full Version : Maestro facelift?

Hi people.
It has been a long time since I last posted. Recently I have been visiting this website quite often, and recently it has added a lot of articles regarding the Maestro.
Some of you may have been there, but here's the URL anyway...

What interests me most is an article about a Maestro facelift idea which never made it eventually. It includes the removing of the scallops at the side of the Maestro. Personally I think it's quite nice. This page can be found in the site's latest updates section.
Here's a pic. What do you think?

One thing I forgot to mention, the editted pic of D428CHO is from the above mentioned website. So is the one of the Montego below.
What do you think?

 That CHO pic is coooooool! It might look like an Astra MKIII, what with the plastic tailgate strip and filled out sides, but it looks a bit more solid than a normal Maestro.

I have to say that I *love* the scallops on the Maestro - they give it real character... However
That looks superb! Possibly (dare I say it) even better? Perhaps just more modern.
The only danger is that it begins to look lie a VW Golf Mk. 2. So anyway, Sleepwalker, when's the first one ready...?!

A Maestro or Montego without side scallops?
It would be like everything else on the road!!!
They are what makes the car stand out from a crowd.

Guys,
Then click on the "contact" link and email me your thoughts. The "Have your say" area is looking a little bare at the moment.

Looks a bit "bloated" to me, I prefer the "slimline waist" of the Maestro
A case of "too many pies?"

It does look a little, dare I say it podgy. But not too bad really..

My personal jury is still 'out' on the scallops issue, but I'm DEFINATELY sold on the tailgate fill-in piece, which brings the tailgate and the rear lamps flush with each other.
Where would you have to go to get one of those made...
BTW Keith I know I've told you before but your website really is first class and it deserves all the publicity it can get. Well done.

Arghh!!! What have you done to my car?
I always thought a facelifted Maestro might look a bit like the 3rd incarnation of the Vauxhall Astra.

John,
Thanks for the complement... I originally come from Layton, Blackpool, and wish I'd seen your car around before I moved away :-) I'm a fan of the Maestro Turbo, so it's nice to see they're still in possession of such enthusiastic owners :-)
Jonathan - that picture was sent to me, and I recognised it as your car straight away (hence the mention) - hope you don't mind!
If you (or anyone else) wants to leave a comment on my site, please email me (via that page) and I'll post it. At the moment, it looks like more people prefer it without the scollops than with them...
Prove them wrong, eh?

Wow! Couple of miles from me! What a small world...
There are actually three more Turbos living here on the Fylde Coast, all belonging to a bloke in Preesall called Norman Dawson. That makes four Maestro Turbos within a 10-mile radius of each other. Does that make the Fylde Coast proportionately over-represented? I suppose it does!

have been toying with the idea of removing the scallops for a while now. But now ive seen it im not sure. It does look kinda plump. Should be starting the build of my bumpers after xmas when student funds allow! So still plenty of time to decide!
