19th Lancashire Classic Car Show, Hoghton Tower, Preston, 09/09/07 (http://www.classicshowsuk.co.uk/events_info/events_furtherinformation2.asp?id=140)

...or even from further afield if you don't mind a drive? Yorkists may be allowed in if they swear allegiance to the Red Rose for the day :D

Seriously, I've attended this most years (though generally it's the July event I go to, not the September event) and it's ideal if you fancy attending a good mixed-marque event with a great atmosphere, HUNDREDS of cars and even lots to do for the kids.

I'll be attending in 'Scruffy' the MG EFi (hey, look at that, I've just given it a name!) after partaking in my yearly magical mystery tour (aka The Lancashire Lanes Run) with the Preston & District MG Enthusiasts Club.

It would be great to see more Maestros & Montegos at the event, rather than my car being some kind of unique oddity. I know Steve Worsley (F170 GGT), Richard Gelder (Austin Rover) and Al (E692WTT) have attended this event in the past and thoroughly enjoyed it, so don't be shy

We had this down for a 'local' event, but due to both Rich G and I being unavailable we've not organised anything. We did, however, go last year with a few people from this site and also some people from the Allegro Club NW Group and it was a damn good day.

It is possible to prebook individually or to attend as an independent 'group' not necessarily under a particular club's banner, if people want to nominate someone to organise this. I would be happy to organise a stand for us all - but I am unavailable to post tickets out to people after 31st August which isn't 100% satisfactory :) .

We had ordered tickets for the July Hoghton Tower show, incidentally - and it was rained off...

Fair enough, would still be good to see others there.

Anyone else fancy it?

No one  It would be disappointing if I am the only attendee representing 1980s Austin Rovers with my car stuck alone amongst the usual line of Fords. There are fewer shows to attend in the Lancashire area compared to central and southern England, so it would be good have a decent attendance of say 3/4/5 cars at even just this one show. The venue is a piece of cake to find.

The cut off for purchasing pre-booked tickets for a club stand is Friday 31st August, so if anyone wants to attend they need to let us know soon - by this coming Wednesday (29th) I would say, so we have time for an application to get to the organisers by post.

If there is no club stand, there is always the one make parking.

The condition of your car is immaterial, but they must be road legal. 'Our' cars always generate a lot of interest, but any pre-92 classic car is welcome. There is also an Arena that we can drive into at one point and meet the commentator, and there's a Concours competition too.

Post below if you're interested in attending, then when we have an idea of numbers we'll play it from there.

Come along regardless of whether there's a club stand or not, and have a good day out! :)

Last call for Hoghton Tower...

Last call for Hoghton Tower...

Why do I feel that with Richard Smith & Richard Gelder predisposed I'll be representing the whole range of 1980s Austin Rover saloons entirely on my own

Maybe the guy with the red Acclaim will turn up as he sometimes does, so I'll perhaps feel slighly less of an outcast.

Sorry we were at Rotherham show today doing our bit for the local shows. We took both the maestro and 220 turbos for an outing. A lovely day was had by all :D

We got there quite late (14:45) because the Run took longer than I expected. After having a spot of (very late) lunch in the car, the weather decided to turn for the worse, so sadly it was just a case of having a very quick root about, then setting off home :( Having said that, by then it was 16:00 anyway, so the event was closing

The only shots I took were a few of 'our' stand (Preston & District MG Enrthusiasts Club). At least my family and I weren't alone in an 80s MG: an enthusiast from Southport (David Prescott) joined us in his immaculate 1990 MG Maestro 2.0i which has only covered 23,000 miles from new, and makes our EFi look an even bigger shed than it is

This shot was taken before the start of the run. We deliberately parked the car next to an MG TF in Trophy Blue, the same colour our EFi is to be painted in Autumn  :

Shame it wasn't all that sunny really. But at least it was dry.

Looks like roughly where the M&MOC Club stand was situated last year. Fantastic scenery.

That red 2.0i looks superb - can't wait to see the EFi in Trophy Blue, either.
