View Full Version : What parts are YOU looking for?

SimonR

I have a small list of parts that I'm looking for that it seems never turn up in the scrapper so I wondered if others are in the same position.

Perhaps some of us have found parts others are looking for... I'll start the ball rolling:

Vanden Plas Steering Wheel Badge from Mk. 1 VP (for conversion of F153's steering wheel)

New grey plastic trims that fit around the lock buttons on the door caps

Grey 'VP' logo and coachline for rear wing of F153

I'm sure I'll think of some other bits and bobs later on...

Police lights and "Stop" boxes for tailgate and bonnet.

Funny that they aren't often seen about :D

And something that our scrapyards are lacking at the moment.... errrrrrm....... oh yes. At least one Maestro! :rage:

Montego VDP estate or Mayfair (sal or est) front seats in flint (box velvet trimmed but MG/VDP "sports shape").

Twin Webers. Namely 40-DCNF-99-250 3M and 40-DCNF-100-250 3L, I'm sure someone has got these..... Even if I could locate just the 99 half of them i'd be more than happy.....! Oh, and the obligatory headlining, a grey one with sunroof hole from a mk2 (had to change the sunroof panel on mine cos the tray was rusted through, so have a glass sunroof now!)

There will be other things (i'm almost sure!), but the only other thing I can think of isn't a part..... patience:banghead: :banghead: !

That's for an R-series isn't it Ricky? I have a set fro an S-series, but am unsure if they will fit.
Anyone need any body/interior trim bits?

ATV, to be honest, i'ts getting to the point that i'll make them fit! I can't imagine that the jets etc. will be the same (in fact i'm sure theyre not!) but i've got all those still..... I'm guessing that youve got 101 and 102 (as i affectionately call them!!), and the R series ones are 99 and 100, but i cant see it making much difference.....
Would you be willing to sell yours then?? (he says hopingly!)

If you'll be at Oxford this weekend I'll put 'em in the back of me 'yota.
(Thats if I get the 'yota back from the MOT centre in time and I can dig the carb's out in time as well.)

Unfortunatley I can't..... they want me at work, apparently i'm paying my penance for doing jury service! Promised myself I wouldn't attend any events until the maestro is "roadworthy", its not me being anti-social but more to spur me on to finish it! Hopefully it'll be ready (as in completely finished, not just roadworthy!) in time for next year's "big thing" up in peterborough, famous last words.....
How much would you want for them though? Bicester isnt that far from here, about an hour and a half from memory, would be good to give the unproven 309 a run to test it (more like a gentle trundle!)

Thanks,

Ricky.

Hmm, not sure. They're still atached to the engine, and thats under the workbench and loads of other stuff. I'll come back to you on that.
BTW, I found the trim for the VDP door that went onto my van, yesterday. The backing is cracked, but the trim itself is in good nick. Any interest?

Hmm, I moved A335 yesterday to adjust the idle speed and generally admire it and noticed that it has no rear seatbelts!

Anyone seen a pair of blue rear seatbelts recently that I coud fit to it?

I'm assuming that fitting rear seatbelts to a mk. 1 Maestro isn't a difficult thing to do...

Does anyone else own a Maestro that they neglected to fit seatbelts to?

Fairly sure we have some blue seatbelts in stock. My VP doesn't have any rears either, but I never have rear passengers to worry about.

SimonR

Thanks for the reply Maria, I would be *most* interested in a set of blue rears (left, right and middle seatbelt with associated stalks). Never let it be said that the MMOC doesn't have a wide variety of spare parts!

There's no rush tho as I'm going to tax and insure the car in the new year and don't envisage taking any rear passengers anywhere before about February!

The rear shelf sections would need to be replaced with later ones as they dont have the seat belt slot, this could be cut into the shelf if you copied a later one, problem would be finding the blue seatbelt slot. Mounting points are all there though.

Yeah, that was the conclusion I came to earlier on today when I had some time to take a lok after washing both my Maestros, good to have it confimed tho :)

What I might do is fit later grey rear shelves and put a grey parcel shelf in as well so it doesn't look odd. Then, when (if) I find the blue parts I can swap it all over. The boot area is grey as it is, so maybe it won't look to bad.

I'll let you know how I get on after christmas...

Hi ya,

If you're interested I have an R570 (from the old 1.3LX) with a working tape deck ...

BUT (there's always one isn't there!)

it only powers two out of the four speakers (I presume one of the amp channels is gone).

If you want it you are welcome to it
