I have finally obtained a secondhand towbar for Angina, my plastic-bumper Maestro. What I stupidly didn't do was to measure the slot in the bumper which needs cutting out. When I went back the next day the car was a tiny cube. Has anyone got the dimensions and position I need to cut out, please? Or any other useful tips? Pretty please??

If you can wait until next week end and are attending MG saloon day...

There is always a handfull of Maestro's with tow-bars fitted, and Im sure no one will mind you taking the measurments needed.

unfortunately I dont have them to hand at the moment.

Maestro hatch towbar fitment is really easy.

Remove the plastic bumper and turn it over and look at the inside. You will see an oblong template marked on the inside of the bumper. Cut around the lines from the inside to leave you a neat cut on the visible outside. File the edges as necessary. Put the bumper back on when you are fitting the towbar to the rear valance and it will all magically line up!

Thanks a lot chaps. I can have the use of quite a good trailer once I've got something to pull it with. How I miss my Landrover! I must say, like many others, I have been really pleased with how much I can fit in the back, but I haven't wanted to risk putting anything too heavy inside. I'll keep you posted as to how I get on, once we get back to hot sunny weekends, so I can work outside.
(That might also allow me to dry the footwells out, but that's another story.)
